Research projects focus on the science & technology involved in the development of advanced biosensors for use in biomedical diagnostics. This highly multidisciplinary research area involves developments in the fundamental sciences of Biology, Physics and Chemistry, recent technological advances in Microfluidics and Nanotechnology, as well as issues concerning the human interface with technology, and science education.
Students also receive a full educational and social experience through a variety of events, including career development workshops and industry visits to enhance their skills as researchers. The programme culminates in a final symposium where students present their work.
The DiaMonD UREKA programme also includes an International Exchange with the Nanobiotechnology Centre (NBTC) at Cornell University. This enables two Irish students to carry out research at the NBTC and two Cornell students to work alongside BDI researchers.
